Local Keys Terms of Use

Effective October 21, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Backcountry Blueprints LLC, an Arizona limited liability company ("we", "us"), about the Local Keys app and keyboard (the "App"). By downloading or using the App you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the App.

1. How these terms fit with Apple's

The App is licensed to you under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple EULA", apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula). These terms add to the Apple EULA. If they conflict, the Apple EULA wins on anything about the license Apple's rules require it to govern. This agreement is between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content and has no obligation to maintain or support it.

2. Who can use the App

If you're under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), use the App only with a parent's or guardian's permission; they accept these terms for you and are responsible for purchases.

3. Your licence

We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, as the Apple EULA's Usage Rules allow. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the App, except where the law allows it or an open-source licence for a component says otherwise. Open-source components and the speech models' licences are listed in the App under Settings › Help, Feedback & Legal › Open-Source Licenses, and are governed by their own terms.

4. How the App works

We describe how the App is designed to work as accurately as we can. If we find that something works differently than described, we will fix it and update these terms and the Privacy Policy.

5. Dictation can be wrong — check before you rely on it

Speech recognition is never perfect. Words can be misheard, left out, or added, and names, numbers, and punctuation may be wrong. Features that change your text (Casual/Formal styles, autocorrect, My Words, Smart Cleanup) can also make mistakes.

You are responsible for the text you send or publish, whether you typed it, dictated it, or the App corrected it.

6. Recording other people, and acceptable use

The App records only when you start dictation. It is your responsibility to follow the laws where you are — some places require everyone in a conversation to agree before it is recorded. Don't use the App to record people without permission, to break the law, or to harass anyone.

7. Purchases, subscriptions, and Founders Lifetime

Local Keys Pro is sold only through Apple's App Store. Prices are shown in the App and on the App Store before you buy, in your local currency.

8. Refunds

All payments are processed by Apple. We can't issue refunds ourselves or see your payment details. To ask for a refund, use Settings › Help, Feedback & Legal › Request a Refund in the App, or reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides on each request under its policies. If the App doesn't work on your device, tell us through the contact form as well — if Apple asks us about your request, we may tell Apple what we know to support your request. See "Refunds and Cancelling" for step-by-step help.

9. Privacy

See the Privacy Policy, in the App and on our website, for what the App does with information.

10. Changes to the App and these terms

We may add, change, or remove features, change the free allowance, or stop offering the App. We may update these terms; the effective date shows the latest version, and continuing to use the App means you accept the update. If a change materially reduces what a paid plan includes, we'll tell you in the App.

11. No warranty

The App, the speech models, and all text it produces are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation, to the fullest extent the law allows. If the App fails to conform to any warranty that applies by law, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App (if any) to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we and our members, employees, and suppliers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, business, or goodwill, arising from or related to the App, including from misheard or incorrectly corrected text, messages sent with the App, a feature not working on your device, or a model download. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months before the claim or US $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you; nothing here limits rights you have that can't be limited by law.

13. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover our reasonable costs from claims by others that arise from your misuse of the App or your breach of these terms, including recording someone without permission.

14. Apple-specific terms

15. Ending

You can stop using the App at any time by deleting it (and cancelling any subscription). These terms end automatically if you break them. Sections 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 16, and 17 survive.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your country of residence requires otherwise. Before filing a claim, please contact us through the form below so we can try to resolve it informally. Any claim not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona, unless you're entitled to bring it in small-claims court or in your local courts under consumer law.

17. General

If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a term isn't a waiver. These terms, the Apple EULA, and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement about the App.
